Owner, Mina’s Mediterraneo

It was her driving passion for sharing her culture with the United States that heavily influenced Mina’s owner Yasmine to pursue a career in the restaurant industry. Born in Cairo, Egypt, Yasmine moved to Houston, Texas at the age of four. Having spent many summers as a child with her grandparents in Cairo, Yasmine had the chance to experienced exotic Mediterranean dishes and ingredients, thus awakening her senses and passion for the culture at a very early age.

After receiving a degree from the University of Texas in Journalism, Yasmine began her career in the music industry where she managed various facets of concert production. Working with a plethora of A-list musicians including Paul McCartney, Beyonce, Coldplay and Cher (to name a few), Yasmine spent most of her time on the road where she would stay at the best hotels and dine at the finest restaurants. While traveling the world, Yasmine learned about different cultures and their cuisines. Now a seasoned world traveler and lifestyle connoisseur, Yasmine decided to leave her impressive career in the music industry to embark on a new culinary journey in Miami. Mina’s Mediterraneo, the brainchild of Yasmine Kotb, fuses together her love of Mediterranean food with the memories of her culture growing up as a child.

“I want to create a dining experience that captures all the senses.” Said Yasmine “When I was a young child, my mom was the only one serving Moussaka and Tagine. It is my mission to bring these flavors to South Florida and other corners of the world.”

Prior to moving to Miami, Yasmine aided her parents in the opening of a similar concept, Mediterraneo, in Houston, Texas, where her mother is the executive chef. As a result, Yasmine’s creativity, leadership capabilities and knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine grew significantly, making her the restauranteur powerhouse that she is today.

A steady hot spot in the 79th Street neighborhood, Mina’s eclectic fusion of International cuisines is only the first of many dining concepts for Yasmine.
